My stay at L'Homme De Rio had its ups and downs. The boutique hotel offers a unique charm with quirky decor and a beautiful rooftop pool, but the location near the favela and some maintenance issues made me feel uneasy. While I had a spacious suite, I was disappointed with problems like broken balcony doors. The staff, however, were fantastic and accommodating throughout my experience, which I truly appreciated.

Rooms
6.0
The suite I stayed in was spacious and clean with a balcony offering a charming view, but the sliding doors didn't lock and the safe was broken. I did appreciate the clawfoot tub, despite there being no proper shower, just a hose attachment.
Service
9.0
The staff were genuinely caring and accommodating, upgrading my room when I raised concerns and even allowing for a flexible check-out. They made my experience much better than it could have been given the circumstances.
Location
5.0
The hotel is perched on a hill, which offers a nice view but makes access to the beach a challenge. I found it a bit sketchy returning home at night due to its proximity to the favela, which affected my sense of security.
Dining
7.0
Breakfast was decent, though not very varied. I was looking for something more consistent, but the garden area provided a pleasant atmosphere to start the day.
Facilities
6.0
The rooftop pool and bar area were highlights, but the lack of dedicated bar service was frustrating. I felt like more attention could have been paid to the management of these facilities.

My stay at L'Homme De Rio was a mixed bag. The rooftop pool and view were stunning, providing a nice escape. However, the location felt a bit precarious, especially after dark, which overshadowed my overall experience. The service was solid, and I appreciated the staff's attentiveness, especially during some of the hiccups I encountered in my room.

Rooms
6.0
The room I had was spacious with a nice balcony, but it was in need of some TLC. Key issues included a broken shower and a lock that didn’t function properly. Some aspects felt like an old villa that needed more upkeep.
Service
8.0
The staff were genuinely friendly and accommodating. While there were some operational hiccups, they were understanding when I raised my concerns and even upgraded my room without much fuss.
Location
5.0
It's centrally located between Ipanema and Copacabana, but the steep hill and proximity to the favela gave me pause. I didn't feel entirely safe outside, especially at night, which made getting taxis a challenge.
Dining
7.0
Breakfast was quite pleasant, enjoyed in a cozy setting. The rooftop area held great potential, but lacked a bartender to enhance the experience during my visit.
Facilities
6.0
The rooftop pool and the charming decor were highlights. However, the hotel overall seemed to need some maintenance, particularly in ensuring the amenities were fully functional.

I found L'Homme De Rio Boutique Hotel to be a charming place with some quirks, but it fell short in a few areas. The views from the balconies and the rooftop pool were stunning, though I did have some safety concerns due to its proximity to a favela. The staff was friendly and accommodating, but there were issues with room amenities that were not ideal. Overall, it's a unique experience that some might enjoy despite its flaws.

My room was spacious with beautiful decor, and I loved having a clawfoot tub. However, I did encounter issues, such as broken locks on the balcony and an inoperable safe, which were disappointing.
Service
8.0
The staff was genuinely friendly and understanding, accommodating my complaints and even offering an upgrade. They were helpful when I checked out early, making the process smooth.
Location
5.0
The hotel is nestled on a hill, which offers great views, but it is also right at the entrance of a favela. This made me feel uneasy at times, especially when returning at night, as taxis were hesitant to drop me off.
Dining
5.0
The breakfast was basic, featuring fruit and bread, which was a bit underwhelming. It could definitely benefit from more variety to start the day right.
Facilities
7.0
The rooftop pool and terrace area were nice amenities, providing a relaxing spot to unwind, although I noticed a lack of attentive service at the bar.

I had an interesting stay at L'Homme De Rio Boutique Hotel. The rooftop pool and views were stunning, but the location left me feeling a bit uneasy, especially after dark. The decor was charming but in need of some TLC, and while the staff was friendly and accommodating, we faced some issues with our room. Overall, it felt like there were both ups and downs during my visit.

Rooms

The decor was quirky, but my room had some issues like broken sliding doors and a struggling safe that needed attention. After raising concerns, I was upgraded to a spacious suite, which was nice, but the balcony doors still didn't lock.
Service
9.0
The staff were really good—super friendly and helpful throughout my stay. They took my complaints seriously and worked to make things right by upgrading me without any hassle.
Location
5.0
The hotel is situated on a hill close to the beach, but the surrounding area felt unsafe, especially at night, which really impacted my comfort. Despite being close to Ipanema and Copacabana, it’s best approached with caution.
Dining
6.0
Breakfast options were quite limited, mostly fruit and bread. However, the terrace provided a nice place to enjoy my coffee with a view over the city.
Facilities
7.0
The rooftop area was a highlight, though there wasn’t always staff available to help with drinks. It felt like it had potential but needed better organization.

I found L'Homme De Rio to be a charming little boutique hotel with unique character, especially the rooftop pool and terrace views. However, the location presented some concerns, given its proximity to a favela, which made me feel uneasy at times. While the staff were friendly and attentive, there were noticeable issues with maintenance that detracted from the overall experience.

Rooms
8.0
The room was spacious and well-decorated, featuring a balcony that offered stunning views. However, I had to deal with some quirks, like the bathroom hot water taking a few minutes to come through. Not a dealbreaker, but worth noting.
Service
7.0
The staff were genuinely helpful and polite, often going out of their way to assist. However, I was disappointed with the lack of staff presence at the rooftop bar, which would have enhanced the experience considerably.
Location
5.0
The location is a mixed bag; it's situated between Ipanema and Copacabana, which is great, but it's also at the entrance of a favela. This made getting transport tricky at times, especially at night, leading to some safety concerns.
Dining
7.0
Breakfast was simple yet enjoyable, with delicious pastries and fresh fruit. I did wish there was a wider variety of options without extra charges for egg dishes, especially considering the price of the stay.
Facilities
6.0
The rooftop pool and terrace provided a fantastic ambiance and great views, but I struggled with lots of stairs around the hotel, which could be challenging for those with mobility issues.
